FAQ

FAQ

Engineer FAQs on product support, installation, maintenance, and selection

How do I choose ball screw accuracy grade? expand_more

Quick guidance:

  • C3 — High precision: semiconductor equipment, precision metrology, and optics (cumulative lead error ≤ 8 μm / 300 mm)
  • C5 — Medium precision: CNC machine tools, industrial robots, and automation lines (cumulative lead error ≤ 18 μm / 300 mm)
  • C7 — General transmission: material handling, packaging, and general automation (cumulative lead error ≤ 50 μm / 300 mm)

Note: Higher accuracy grades cost more to manufacture—select to actual requirements and avoid over-specification.

What causes noise or vibration in a ball screw? expand_more

Common causes and remedies:

  • ① Insufficient lubrication — Replenish or replace grease; lithium-based grease is recommended
  • ② Ball wear or damage — Inspect and replace the nut assembly
  • ③ Mounting misalignment — Re-align support and nut seats to required coaxial accuracy
  • ④ Screw bend — Measure radial runout; replace if beyond specification
  • ⑤ Contamination — Check seals and clean guide surfaces

If issues persist, submit a technical ticket via Contact Us.

How often should ball screw grease be replenished? expand_more

Recommended lubrication intervals:

  • Standard duty: replenish grease every 3–6 months
  • Heavy load: every 1–2 months
  • Clean environments (e.g. semiconductor): may extend to 6–12 months

Recommended greases:

  • General duty: lithium grease (NLGI No. 2)
  • High-speed duty: synthetic oil-based grease
  • Medical: food-grade grease (NSF H1 certified)
How should ball screw preload be selected and adjusted? expand_more

Preload selection principles:

  • High positioning accuracy → higher preload (e.g. P3 preload class)
  • Smooth operation priority → medium preload (e.g. P2)
  • Low friction and long life → zero backlash or light preload (P1)

Note: Higher preload increases friction torque and temperature. Use the minimum preload that meets positioning requirements to maximize life.

Can you customize non-standard ball screws? What is the MOQ? expand_more

Yes—we support custom non-standard designs.

Customization scope:Shaft diameter, lead, length, nut style, mounting flange, special materials, and more.

  • MOQ: non-standard catalog custom from 10 pieces; small trial batches by arrangement
  • Lead time: approximately 7–15 business days for custom (depends on complexity)
